Cliche and memeable to share this song I suppose, but I don't actually like the meme. This song is now well known to be about Billy Joe's grief over his father, I always felt a deep connection to this song. My birthday was just a week ago, and maybe one of the worst I've had. September has always been a time of deep personal sadness for me, and there's something very poetic about asking to be woken up from the grief once the worst of it is over. It's inevitable I'll grieve, it's inevitable it'll be deep and painful, as it is every year. Just please wake me up when it's done, so I can try to be myself again.

characterized by twinkly guitar riffs and complex time signatures that make whatever youre listening to make you just slightly anxious every time you listen. but it's jazzy in the best way possible and really gets me into the flow if i need to study!
