Okay, I missed a bunch of stuff yesterday talking to an old acquaintance. I'm not sure if he can be called a friend, even though we talk somewhat often. (It's about 3-5 times a year, which is often for me. Most of the time, when people call me, they need something done. I've rarely had people call me for the pleasure of my nonexistent conversation skills.)

I asked my psychologist for an appointment yesterday night, after an hour or two of agonized thinking about whether it's even worth asking for it. I'm now going to spend the next few hours playing magic and listening to chill electronica till 2 pm.

RDW(Red Deck Wins - just a bunch of low CC creatures and board removal with direct damage like Shock) is probably the easiest to build for in MTG. You can usually do well even with just commons/uncommons.
Green Stompy is pretty easy to build too. Just cards that ramp (Paradise Druid) and big summons (Pretty much any big green creature).
Most cost efficient use of gems is to play draft. But just play it if you enjoy it (I personally don't).

Yeah, I've seen that rule play out in a bunch of games. I'm trying to play a black+white deck, because I drew a rare planeswalker that was black+white. (At least, I'm pretty sure I drew it. My memory has been fuzzy these past few years, I always forget things.) I've gotten to gold 4 in about a week of playing.
Yeah, I've seen that okay out too. I have the cards for both a greed deck, a red deck and a green+red deck, I guess I'm just too stubborn.
I'm playing for free, and I haven't seen gems pop up so far. Also, apart from the Fortnite inspired FOMO design, I'm somewhat happy with the game. Daily challenges are rewarding enough.
It's better than DotA for me. DotA sucks up too much time. At least most MTGA games end in 10 mins or so.

Gruul (Red/Green) is tricky. It combines the best of both mono red and mono green BUT it only really works if you're using the rare cards.
If you just google "MTG Arena Free Codes" You should get a bunch of free packs. I'm pretty sure some of those one time codes also give gems.
As an Azorius (Blue/White) Control deck player, I disagree. :P
I'm at work right now. Covid19 actually boosted sales, albeit from the e-commerce sections. The physical shops basically died.

When it comes to the relapse, For many, they find their home is their safe place, for me sadly whilst it is, it isn't, I am used to time alone, I am used to be able to lose myself in my music to calm, Now this forced self isolation is in place, I am around people 24/7 with no let up, and I am struggling, I've been told I should deal with it, as we are all in the same boat now, which I understand and I feel selfish for feeling this way :(
