I lived off that with butter/parm cheese for months once.... lost like 40lbs as a result I think. So tempted to do that again but it totally was not healthy.

@Underscore We had no potatoes recently, only pasta. 1 kilo - 1 euro. Add some expired sauce and tastes not like dry oats because you don't have money to buy milk :D
@one4all Hmm, I would love to have some Korean hot noodles, but if you are broke, they are expensive lol
@Carina I was living once in a half-abandoned summerhouse and butter/cheese would probably deteriorate after a few days without fridge. But pasta in bulk is always a good idea ;D

@faust Ramen noodles are cheap as hell. Especially if you buy the bulk pack. At least where i live.

@one4all I never tried to buy instant noodles in bulk. I once bought 10 or 25 kilos of pasta and it was extremely cheap.

@faust Those little bad boys have got me through some tough times. And it was just the RAMEN noodles, not the soup, i buy. Toss in a few frozen veggies and some meat if you can manage.

@one4all in my home country a pack of noodles costs 20-30 cents, assuming for 3 plastic/glass bottles you will get 30 cents, you may eat the noodles all the time lol. Here I saw for 30 cents noodles from Ghana, local cost around 1 euro, some 1,50. Korean/Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai also around 1-1,50

@faust You lost me with the "3 plastic/glass bottles ". The 20-30 censt sounds about right for the ramen noodles, per pack. That's why i buy the bulk packs. I just buy the ramen noodles, toss them in boiling water, wait a few minutes and they are done. I'm not sure what country you live in either

That's how I operated back in college. Buy 50 packs of instant noodles, consume over a few months' time. I would mix it with oats, add a bit (okay, more than a bit) of spices and instant soup to make it taste better. (I only had an automatic kettle for boiling water, so options were limited.) Sometimes, I'd add an egg or some paneer as well to add variety.
Eating out was still easier, though. Hence the absurd weight gain.

Oh, I guess this is just a cultural difference. Mostly we have pot noodles which are not cheap and some packed noodles.
And ye, in US I heard you can buy everything in bulk, here it is not that easy.
@RM5998 Hm, where I used to live there was a store-warehouse where you could get as much as you need and the prices were really good.
Here I haven't seen any warehouses yet, only retailers.

A lot of people survived college on Ramens. I've done the egg trick before. And like i said earlier if you can add some veggies and meat.. it stretches it out a little more. So many ways to screw around with them.
I'm not sure it's so much as cultural as easy to access, depending i guess where you live. You can buy a lot of bulk items here.. but also it depends where you shop. Local stores usually don't carry bulk. You have to go to the major grocery stores for that.

They've been cleaning them out here on the East Coast US. Those things are good but they're not even food if you ask me. Just more cardboard like our waffles.
