I have no kids or partner but I have a huge collection of vinyls, CD, DVDs and other stuff. I was a collector since more than 20 years but I don't care anymore since I plan to CTB. Collecting things ruined my life. I think it is because of my autism. Nevermind.

I wrote my will where I give everything to my family but I hesitate to make a donation to a charity (animal protection for example) because my family is not in need of money. Or I'll maybe give some money to my cousin who has mental health problems and who needs money. I'd like to give the money to homeless people too.

I'm starting to sell my collection but it will take some time because I have thousands of records. I want to have the control about it. It is strange because if I'm dead, I won't give a shit, but i's important to me.

There is another reason why I want to sell all my records : I believe in afterlife and I don't want to be connected to my home as a ghost... Buddhists say it's important be detached from material things. You may find it silly, but these kind of things bother me a lot. My goal is to have an almost empty apartment before I leave. I know it's impossible because I've collected so much things in my life. I told my mother that I wanted to sell everything and I hope she doesn't suspect anything about my CTB plan.

Why do you think collecting stuff ruined your life?

I have a few thousand euros worth of star wars memorabilia :pfff:

A friend of mine who appreciates that stuff can have it. I honestly couldn't be bothered to sell that shit. Too much messing around with postage and packaging.

Any money I leave behind (which won't be much) can just go to my nieces and nephews college fund, or whatever they want to do with it.

The rest is just video games, CD's and books. Whoever wants 'em can have 'em.

at the moment i only have a holographic will, so whoever will really inherit my things is at the mercy of my parents. my money will go to my former partner (with the exception of £1000 to deal with the continued care of my animals), my belongings to my family. my former partner will probably be able to take a few personal items of mine if he so wishes. i hope he does

We're in the same boat. I've collected over 2,000 records, and no one in my family would appreciate them. In the end, I decided to donate them to a sincere friend of mine who shared the same passion. When I tried to bring up the subject, he got suspicious because he knew how jealous I am of my records, so he'll only find out after my CTB.

I think it ruined my life because it was an addiction. When you're collecting, it never ends, you want more and more and you are never satisfied... I should have made friends instead, but in some ways this collection was my friend...

im so envious of americans as they dont have inheritance tax, as i dont have direct family left so everyone who i would write down in my will will get taxed the shit out of them.

My sister, I guess. At one stage I was going to leave a load of stuff to someone I believed to be a friend, but they turned out not to be.
